National Head of Infection Prevention Control Services- IPC Lead Nurse

HCA Healthcare UK - London based with occasional travel to Birmingham and Manchester as and when required.

Permanent and Full time 37.5 hours per week.

About the Role

This is a key role leading and co-ordinating the Infection Prevention and Control Team and resource across HCA UK. Responsible to the Chief Nurse Executive, this role will oversee the development and delivery of HCA’s IPC strategy.

This is also a new role developed to support the HCA strategic direction of creating “One HCA” This shift in direction with enable the most flexible use of the IPC service and ensure the expertise, skills and resource are deployed to meet service need wherever it is required.You will act as an expert practitioner, demonstrating advanced clinical competence and a knowledge base beyond those associated with conventional nursing roles.

Skills & Experience  

  • Registered Nurse Teaching qualification or equivalent 
  • Leadership development qualification 
  • First degree in infection control Master’s degree or (working towards) or equivalent experience in IPC 
  • Expert knowledge of infection prevention and control. 
  • Strategic awareness  
  • Comprehensive understanding of professional nursing issues and the national nursing agenda 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of national infection control policies and guidance  
  • Excellent understanding and proven application of clinical governance
