Staff Nurse -Paediatric Surgical Complex Care/Cardiac

Location :The Portland Hospital for Women & Children -London 

Hours: 37.5 hrs PW (Shifts-Long days/nights/weekends) 

Salary: £35,970-£39,240 dependent on Skills & Experience and inclusive of shift allowance +  Benefits (pension, health cover, flexible benefits and excellent career development) 

We have a brilliant opportunity for a Paediatric Staff Nurse to join the team at The Portland Hospital Complex Surgical & Surgical Cardiac Care ward. The role will play a vital role in delivering on expert patient care.  

As a Registered Staff Nurse working in our Complex Surgical & Surgical Cardiac care you will assess, plan, deliver and evaluate high standards of specialist care to ensure that our patients are cared for in a safe, compassionate and comfortable environment. As a Staff Nurse you will meet physical, psychological and spiritual needs by effectively communicating with the patient, their families and your colleagues. 

Staff Nurse duties will include undertaking extended roles such as venipuncture, cannulation and phlebotomy, contributing to the ongoing research-based care and other practice development initiatives. As a Staff Nurse you would recognising the signs and symptoms of a deteriorating patients and initiate early interventions in a calm and co-ordinated manner. 

 

Skills & Experience: 

  • NMC Child Registered Nurse (RN Child / RSCN) with immediate paediatric life support  

  • Understanding of Safeguarding issues  

  • Ideally experience working within a paediatric  surgical/HDU/Spinal/Cardiac

  • Excellent written and verbal communication  

 

About us:

The Portland Hospital is renowned for its clinical excellence with our paediatric inpatients covering a variety of specialties including (but not limited to) surgical, neuro-rehab, Gastroenterology, Ear,Nose and Throat (ENT) and general paediatrics.   

This post will be based in a 14 bedded Complex Surgical ward admitting the following surgeries;

​​Major urology and reconstruction surgeries, Spinals including SDR, Cardiac, Orthopaedic including sports injuries, Cochlear Implants, Maxillo-facials including cleft lip and palate, ENT including reconstruction surgeries, Bariatric surgery, Neurosurgery
