Neuro Oncology/ Surgical Clinical Nurse Specialist 

Location: The Wellington Hospital, St Johns wood, London 

Hours: 37.5hrs pw- (Mon-Fri)

Due to opening of new services The Wellington Hospital is recruiting for a Neuro Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist!

You will be required to work autonomously as the Clinical Nurse Specialist for Neuro Oncology across the Wellington Hospital. 

The role includes managing a caseload of patients diagnosed with and having treatment for these specialities. The role will include collaboration and liaison with Consultant medical staff, ward/departmental staff, and other CNSs within HCA, to provide seamless evidence based holistic pathway of care for all patients referred into the service. 

 

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Work within The Wellington Hospital & other facility clinical nurse specialists to provide expert clinical advice to the healthcare team taking into account all aspects of Clinical Governance.   

  • Promote and develop the use of evidence based practice to improve the outcomes of patient care by enabling people to access, identify, appraise and interpret information to meet their needs 

  • Provide specialist advice, guidance and support at an advanced level of knowledge to patients, carers and healthcare professionals. 

  • Be an educational resource and participate in the continuing education of the multi-professional health care team in all aspects of their specific specialities. 

  • Participate in and initiate clinical audit undertaken in relation to specific needs and the ongoing service development.  

  • Expand and develop existing and new networks to ensure the dissemination of best practice across The Wellington Hospital & HCA, and nationally for patients with oncology needs 

 

Skills & Experience: 

  • NMC registered Nurse 

  • Extensive experience in caring for Neuro patients and in particular neuro oncology. 

  • The role requires experience in both Medical Oncology and Clinical oncology. 

  • Knowledge of surgical and radiological interventions for Neuro is also an advantage. 

  • Experience with Neuro Spinal will be considered 

  • Post Registration Qualification relevant to the role. 

  • Experience of working within the Clinical Nurse Specialist role or similar senior level 

  • Master’s degree or working towards-Desirable 

  • Knowledge of relevant national cancer policies and procedures 

  • Good verbal and non-verbal communication skills
