We have opportunities for Operating Department Practitioners and Registered Nurses in theatres, endoscopy, as well as recovery across our organisation.

The vast range of procedures undertaken ensures that there are plenty of opportunities to specialise and expand your experience. 

The senior team fully support staff development and encourage rotation across the various sites.

Main duties of the job

St. Michael’s Hospital

We currently have five theatres and a 10 bedded recovery area, with a range of specialities including Obstetrics, ENT, Upper G.I, Oral Surgery and Gynaecology. There is also a day unit with 16 beds, specialising in Gynaecology, ENT & Upper G.I along with a weekly maxillofacial service for adult patients with learning disabilities.   

Hey Groves Theatres

We currently have 10 theatres with a range of specialities including: Limb reconstruction, Thoracic, Trauma, max fax, Upper GI, Lower GI, HPB, Cardiac, Orthopaedics and a designated CEPOD list. Queens Theatres Queens Theatres has two operating theatres and a four bedded recovery area with a range of specialities such as; Major ENT Head and Neck Surgery, Major Maxillo Facial Surgery, ENT and Facial reconstruction and Tempero Mandibular joint replacement surgery.  

Queens Endoscopy

Queens Endoscopy is equipped with four endoscopy rooms, an admissions area, a two second stage recovery areas and a dedicated decontamination area. Patients attend the unit for various complex therapeutic Endoscopy procedures.  

South Bristol Community Hospital

South Bristol Community Hospital has two theatres, recovery unit and two endoscopy rooms offering a range of day case specialities such as Dermatology, Trauma and Orthopaedic, Lower GI, pain management Ophthalmology, Gynaecology and Oral surgery.  

Bristol Eye Hospital

We have four theatres and three bedded recovery housing all specialities within Ophthalmology, elective and emergency work.  

Bristol Royal Hospital for Children (BRHC)

Coastguard and Horizon Children’s Theatres Department at BRHC has 9 theatres over 2 paediatric theatre departments.  We cover neurosurgery, scoliosis, cardiac, cardiac catheter, interventional radiology, oncology, general, urology, ear, nose and throat, orthopaedics, renal, plastics, burns, dental, maxillofacial, laparoscopic and endoscopy. We provide a tailored education package and an up to 6-month supernumerary program for our newest team members to provide the support to help you flourish.

Weston General Hospital

Weston's main theatre department has four theatres and a 5 bedded recovery area. We cover a wide range of specialties  including Colorectal, Upper GI, Orthopaedics , Trauma and CEPOD. There is also a day case unit that comprises of a further two theatres and a 3 bedded recovery area, specializing in gynaecology, urology, ophthalmology and dermatology to name a few.
