About the role and our team

Join our friendly, enthusiastic team in the Intensive Care Unit at Noble’s Hospital on the Isle of Man!

Our unit is a six-bedded combined intensive care and high dependency unit, providing critical care services for the Isle of Man. We are a small, compassionate team that endeavour to deliver gold standard patient care and are part of the Cheshire & Mersey Critical Care Network, meaning we are bench marked with other ICU’s in the North West.

Your main duties will be to develop and implement programmes of care to patients ensuring they receive the best possible care, supporting junior members of staff and maintaining good communication with the patients their carers and the multidisciplinary team.

We will fully support you to develop your knowledge and skills, giving you the opportunity to undertake the Critical Care Network National STEP Competencies to deal with a wide variety of conditions, empowering you to be a competent and confident nurse within the critical care environment. We are a general ICU so you will be caring for patients from an array of specialities including medicine, surgery, ENT, trauma, orthopaedics, obstetrics and paediatrics.

If you are a motivated and caring Registered Nurse then we would love to hear from you!

What can this role offer me?

By joining us you’ll be stepping away from NHS pressures and demands, as the Island’s healthcare system is similar but separate to the UK NHS.

You will have access to excellent development facilities and support, including our on-site education and training centre Keyll Darree. You can also take advantage of the great courses we offer through LEaD, our Learning, Education and Development Service.

Free on-site parking is available at Noble’s Hospital.

You will also benefit from an unsocial allowance enhancement in your salary for working at weekends and nights.

About the Island and relocating

Here you can enjoy a fantastic quality of life, and an excellent work-life balance! There are plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities; so if you like walking, mountain biking, sailing or kayaking, you’ll have lots of places to explore!

There are also lots of great cafes, bars and restaurants, and you can enjoy the Island’s real sense of community. The island is well connected to the UK, and you’ll also benefit from low income tax rates (20% maximum rate).

If you are relocating or returning to the Island, you can also benefit from the National Insurance Holiday Scheme, which allows you to apply for a refund on your NI contributions for your 1st year of living here.

A relocation package of up to £7,000 based on receipts is available for this role. Housing Assistance is also available where the Department will pay the difference between your current mortgage/rent bill, and that of your new accommodation on the Isle of Man, up to a maximum of £250 per month. This role also qualifies for a recruitment incentive of £3,000, payable in the 1st, 13th, and 25th months of employment.
