Job Overview 

Northern Healthcare provides mental health recovery services across many regions within the UK. Our services consist of Supported Living and community outreach services which provide our residents with access to 24 hr support from experienced clinical and support staff.

We support over 150 adults across the UK in all aspects of their daily lives and mental health recovery. Currently our services are based across the Northwest, Cumbria, Yorkshire and Midlands.

We are looking for an experienced Clinical Team Manager/ RMN to be responsible for the leadership and management of a clinical team of Occupational Therapists, Registered Mental Health Nurses and Registered Learning Disability Nurses within Northern Healthcare.  You will support the delivery of a clinically effective service by the provision of clinical expertise in the operation of the NHC pathways content to its residents.   In doing so, you will assess, plan, deliver and evaluate team performance and delivery, ensuring that the team practice within their sphere of competence and knowledge.

You’ll have experience in working to organisational, professional, and regulatory body codes, standards and guidance, ensuring that their practice is grounded in evidence based theoretical and practical knowledge.

It can be quite a challenging environment at times, so a positive attitude, compassion, resilience and vigilance are important. But you will be supporting the clinical teams in their own development which is hugely rewarding.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To have lead responsibility for the clinical team for managing the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for residents using the risk assessment procedures and to ensure safe and acceptable standards of care; working in conjunction with the Lead Clinicians.
  • Practices as an autonomous clinician to support service delivery, responding to social, scientific, clinical, and ethical issues in line with the values and agreed model within the organisation.
  • Responsible for the performance and management of an integrated clinical team within Northern Healthcare and for ensuring the delivery of the clinical pathways appropriate to the organisation.
  • To be responsible for caseload management and the monitoring of individual work through appropriate structures.
  • Provides a leadership style which is underpinned by strongly held values around equality, diversity and openness; effectively builds and maintains relationships with direct reportee(s) and other key individuals across the organisation.
  • Demonstrates clinical leadership, initiative, and creativity in developing projects inspiring others to be positive in their contribution to continuous improvement.
  • Utilise the personal development plan process, to update skills required for the competency framework and to ensure NMC professional registration is maintained.
  • Comply with Nursing, Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Conduct and Northern Healthcare policies and procedures
  • Establish effective communication networks with residents, relatives, users and carers, team members, Occupational Therapy colleagues and other agencies / professionals, and key stakeholders.
  • Work as a member of the clinical team, contributing to the decisions with regards to care planning and the use of resources.
  • Ensures appraisals for direct reportees are undertaken in accordance with Northern Healthcare policy; actively manages performance which falls below standard in accordance with the appropriate HR policies and processes ensuring that a robust process is embedded within the team
  • Demonstrate understanding of the National Guidelines and legislation relating to health and social care, and their impact upon service provision.
  • Identifies, manages, and minimises risks within the overall organisational risk management frameworks supporting other staff to contribute to the process. This includes understanding and applying knowledge of clinical role in safeguarding and incident management
