The Staff Nurse will provide and deliver a customer service to a world class level for our patients, visitors and consultants. As a Staff Nurse in Gynae Outpatient, you will coordinate, assist in clinics and ensure the highest quality of clinical practice and patient care. You will be working between buildings 215 and 212 great Portland Street within the Gynae outpatient department.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the provision of care to patients so as to ensure their comfort/safety needs are identified, taking into consideration cultural, religious beliefs, respecting values and respecting those beliefs
  • Reporting to nurses any problems arising out of conversations with patients, acting as the patient advocate at all times
  • Report patient’s condition when required and record observations of temperature, pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate, urinalysis, BM stix, pulse oxymetry, weight and height.
  • Preparing dressing/procedures under the direction of the clinical team and for which instruction has been given
  • Assisting nursing and medical staff when required with different procedures with supervision and competency.
  • Participate in audits and inspections as appropriate
  • Recording and investigation of Datix
  • The post holder is accountable to adhere to the NMC standards

Skills & Experience

  • RGN with valid NMC pin
  • General nursing experience
  • Proficient in Gynaecological services and procedures
  • Ability to manage the clinical area
  • To evaluate on going practices and implement changes as necessary to improve the standard within the department
  • Flexibility to respond to the needs of the department
  • Good team player, motivating and empowering junior staff
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Evidence of updating clinical skills/knowledge
  • Proficient in Gynaecological services and procedures
