The Christie Private Care treats private patients with a full range of diagnostic, inpatient, surgical, day care and outpatient treatment all on one site.About the role: The post holder will work autonomously as the Clinical Nurse Specialist for Hepatobiliary, Neuroendocrine and Upper Gastrointestinal Cancer at The Christie Private Care. The role includes managing a caseload of patients diagnosed with, and having treatment for these specialities. The role will include collaboration and liaison with Consultant medical staff, ward/departmental staff, and other CNSs within The Christie hospital Foundation Trust, to provide seamless evidence based holistic pathway of care for all patients referred into the service.The post holder will be involved in Macmillan CNS service development and support of annual reviews and service outcomes. Coordination of patient care, Holistic needs assessments and supporting the inpatient and outpatients within their speciality. The role requires experience in both Medical Oncology and Clinical oncology. Knowledge of surgical and radiological interventions for UGI and HPB is also an advantage.Duties and responsibilities
  • Provide a level of advanced and comprehensive holistic nursing assessment based on specialist knowledge and experience and where appropriate maintain a client caseload
  • Lead and support with specialist nursing knowledge the development and implementation of evidence based programmes of nursing care for individual patients and the client group as a whole.
  • Ensures all specialist practice complies with every aspect of Clinical Governance.
  • Support individual Consultants within clinical areas as appropriate. Establishing a robust and workable job plan in conjunction with service need.
  • Provide support, advice and education for patients, significant others and colleagues across the healthcare team and across service boundaries.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of clinical audits and research projects, ensuring that the findings are disseminated and good practice is shared locally and nationally.
Skills and experience
  • NMC Registered Adult registration. Significant post graduate experience.
  • Oncology - Haematology Nursing experience
  • Suitable for equivalent of CNS Level
