SENIOR INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY NURSE

Location: The Princess Grace Hospital, 42-52 Nottingham Pl, London W1U 5NY

This role is a 37.5 hours per week + rotational on call.

The Unit is open Monday-Friday from 8:00-20:00, with additional evening and weekend on call.

Job Description

As the Senior Staff Nurse within the imaging department you will report to the Duty Clinical Lead Nurse/Manager and will provide a customer focused and high-quality nursing service to our patients and service users. The Senior Staff Nurse will strive for and maintain the best standard of clinical standards and efficiency for our users at all times. The role will require rotation throughout all of the imaging modalities (Interventional Radiology, CT, MRI and Core Services) and throughout all of the imaging sites, although the primary base will be the Princess Grace Hospital. The post holder will also support the Radiologist and Radiographers in the management of the clinical areas, including assessment of care needs, the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs of care.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supports the team during interventional radiology cases in x-ray, CT, ultrasound and MRI.
  • To assist in the provision of expert advice and interventions within radiology that maintains and improves standards of care and promotes a seamless service within a multi-professional framework.
  • The post holder will demonstrate the skills for assessing and interpreting specialist acute and other patient conditions, initiating actions as appropriate.
  • Supports the Radiology department by providing a high standard of care for both in-patients and out-patient including assisting the team and Radiographers in the booking of immediate appointments.
  • Contribute to the principles of clinical governance, ensuring that quality standards are set and monitored. Ensure that clinical risk management and clinical audit are an integral part and carried out
  • Contribute towards a multi-professional approach in the management of patients within Interventional Radiology and Imaging.
  • Form an effective working relationship with Consultants, Radiographers and administrative staff within the department and the hospital as a whole.
  • Become competent in all areas of Imaging Nursing, including assisting in Interventional Radiology cases, ablations, hepato-biliary, urology, vascular cases and other therapeutic procedures.
  • Provide a professional standard of excellence in nursing services for all patients.

Skills & Experience

  • Hold a BSc (or equivalent) in Nursing and hold a current UK NMC registration meeting PREP requirement.
  • Evidence in health / nursing-related studies with on-going personal and professional development through CPD/protocol development within a radiology area.
  • Have experience in mentoring
  • Post Graduate qualification within imaging or another relevant area
  • Registered Nurse with three years of experience, significant IR Nursing knowledge is desirable.
  • Able to use own initiative and ability to work as part of the team.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to meet the service requirements and will be required to work on call to cover the emergency service
  • Ability to work under pressure and reliable.
  • Strong organisational skills working across many modalities.
