The School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Plymouth is a provider of first class contemporary education, informed by research and innovation. We offer a contemporary and dynamic multi-professional independent prescribing course that offers students a robust framework to pursue a career in clinical practice.

The school is looking for an exceptional individual with experience and enthusiasm for prescribing to join the existing team as we expand our provision across the Peninsula. We are committed to providing students with innovative and high quality postgraduate programmes that meet the needs of clinicians and service, which prepare the next generation of practitioners across clinical disciplines to deliver high quality, safe, competent and evidenced based practice for their patients. Should an applicant have the necessary experience and is interested in leading the prescribing provision in the school we would explore this at interview. There would be remuneration attached to the lead role.

The school works in partnership with local NHS trusts to drive forward clinical research and support students in their learning to become the best nurses and midwives they can be. State-of-the-art facilities and equipment help students maximise their potential and develop their core skills, preparing them to embark on exciting and rewarding careers. The school offers further support for student career and professional development in the areas of healthcare, surgical care practice, emergency care and general practice nursing. An interdisciplinary approach to research covers sustainability, the evolution of services, use of new genetic knowledge and technologies, the ageing population, use of internet and mobile technologies, changes in clinical education, contemporary nursing, and how knowledge is translated into practice and policy.

You should possess appropriate professional qualifications, registration with either GPHC, HCPC or NMC is essential, relevant post registration experience as a prescriber, a higher degree in health or a related subject, relevant postgraduate qualifications and a teaching qualification (or be willing to work to achieve this).

A relocation package may be available to the successful candidate, conditions apply.

This role will require an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check plus a Children’s Barred List check.

This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a permanent basis. Job share/part time hours will be considered.
